Probably from the 1800’s, don’t think the strings had ever been changed, fixed 3 cracks in the back and 1 on the soundboard (still visible), needed 8 new mother of pearl inlays cut and installed for the binding, fixed the tuners, installed a new nut, set the action and intonation, polished the tailpiece, polished, polished, polished the finish…. going back a different animal!
Some of these old bowlbacks don’t play or sound that good. You can never be sure until you string it up and launch into it! This one is a gem. Plays very nicely and sounds beautiful.
